What Might Be Going On

Here are the most common no-start problems we see. Tell us which one sounds like your car and we can help fast.

1

Won't crank, just clicks

Usually a weak battery or a tired starter. Try your headlights — if they are dim or dead, start with the battery.

2

Battery light is on

The charging system is not keeping up. This is often the alternator. Get it in soon before it leaves you stuck.

3

Cranks but won't fire up

The engine is turning but not catching. Could be fuel, spark, a sensor, or a security fault. This one needs a scan tool.

4

Died while driving

If everything went dark as you rolled to a stop, the alternator or a main electrical connection is a likely cause.

Questions

No-Start & Breakdown FAQ

Still stuck? Call (419) 392-5926 and we will walk you through it.

My car will not start. Can you get me in today?
Call us at (419) 392-5926 as soon as we open. No-start problems go to the front of the line, and we can often look at your car the same day. If we have the part on hand, many alternator and starter jobs are also done that day.
Do you offer towing or come to my house?
We do not have a tow truck and we do not do roadside or mobile work. Everything is fixed at our Holland shop. Call us and we can give you the name of a local tow company we trust.
Is it the battery, the alternator, or the starter?
From the driver's seat it can be hard to tell. A slow or clicking crank often points to the battery or starter. Lights that dim while driving, or a battery that keeps dying, often points to the alternator. We test all three for free so you are not guessing.
What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM. We are closed weekends and on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter. Leave a message or use the contact form after hours and we will call you back the next business day.
How much will it cost?
We do not know until we look. But the estimate is free, we tell you the price before any work starts, and nothing extra happens without your OK. Ask about our 15% military discount.
Can I keep driving it until my appointment?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If the battery light is on, if the car is overheating, or if the brakes feel wrong, stop driving and call us. Driving on a bad alternator can leave you stranded and can ruin a good battery.
